There are
three main reasons debriefing skills
are important to both individuals and their organisations.
Organisations are under increasing
pressure to improve performance in the delivery
of their services. For some their survival depends on it. Many
initiatives have been launched to improve effectiveness (the
'what') and efficiency ( the 'how' ) aimed at achieving 'best
value'. People are being recognised as an organisation's most
valuable resource because of the value they can add.
As individuals we, (that's us all),
often fail to learn from experiences, mistakes are
repeated, good practice is missed or not even established. People
‘switch off', fail to share valuable information and ideas
which are then lost. All staff including managers and leaders,
have much to contribute from their experiences. The challenge
is how and when to tap that experience and to progress.
There is no established methodology to draw
the learning and ideas from
experience. That has been a stumbling block to both individuals
and organisations. 'Debriefing' is recognised as the way forward
but in practice it is difficult and results inconsistent. Acknowledging
that debriefing as a 'skill' is at the centre of things.
|
The Centre
now has, in 'Structured Debriefing', an established methodology
to address all the above issues. Training covers planning, leading,
and reporting the debrief. Courses are facilitated in workshop
style using workbooks, formal inputs, exercises and group participation.
Post course support is offered to encourage use and help build
skills. Course Certificates are only awarded to those who show,
by reporting on two debriefings, they have applied the technique
in their workplace.
Who
- should consider attending?
Anyone up to the most senior managers wishing to enhance their
debriefing skills.
Previous debriefing experience is not necessary.
